How I Spent My Summer Vacation by the.effing.librarian

My girlfriend is a fan of the Little House on the Prairie series of books. And of the TV show. She read Melissa Gilbert's book about the show and she read the novel that tells the story from Nellie's perspective, Nellie Oleson Meets Laura Ingalls.

So when we saw that there was a musical for Little House on the Prairie AND that the actress who played Nellie was writing her own book about being a bitch, we started on our production of Little Bitch on the Prairie: The Nellie Oleson Story, a musical based on the character from the television show.

We didn't have much to work with, not owning the rights or anything like that, but we got some costumes together and shot a music video for the first song we wrote, "Take Your Shirt Off, Mr. Ingalls."

My girlfriend pointed out that Charles Ingalls is often shirtless on the show, finding pretty much any reason to strip, from tilling the field to spilling cherry pie on his shirt to remembering it's Tuesday.

Enjoy our video. That is my girlfriend as Nellie and I play Charles. She sings her song as a preteen girl might as she's watching a handsome sweaty man bend and lift heavy things in the hot afternoon. We hope the copyright holders don't make YouTube take it down.

Oh, darn. Too late.
