I envy you.

I'm not the kind of person who can give up one job for another. I can't imaging leaving a job just because I might like a different one better: the present job would need to really suck.

But the idea of working for National Public Radio sounds cool. And right now they show 2 librarian positions on their job page. And what's worse, they sound really easy:

Broadcast Librarian I - "The broadcast librarian will also train NPR staff in use of the internal database and other audio resources; be a professional who both enjoys being a trainer and researcher, and who understands metadata, content management, and taxonomy principles; will be curious and flexible, attentive to detail, and able to express him/herself well verbally and in writing; will have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and will build rapport easily with customers..."
or
Reference Librarian I- "The reference librarian will have the ability to not only refer customers to appropriate searches but also to conduct often in-depth research and comprehensive literature searches while evaluating and organizing/synthesizing the results for customers; enjoy training customers in the use of library resources; be a professional who both enjoys being a trainer and researcher, and who understands the importance of the reference interview, critically evaluates information and data sources, and empowers customers to use information resources; be curious and flexible, attentive to detail, and able to express him/herself well verbally and in writing..."

I wish I could just pack up and go for a job like that. I wish I didn't have all these kids. And wives. On different sides of town.

If one of you feels you can do this, go for it. Before it's too late. Now I need to go to my homes and tell my families about my day. And eat three dinners.
